How long have you been with BFC, and what do you do here?
I have been with BFC for 2 years now. I am a Disability Support Worker.
What is your favourite thing about working at BFC?
My favourite thing about working at BFC is the time I spend with clients. I like the one on one time and supporting clients to be independent.
How has your career grown since starting at BFC?
Since working for BFC as a support worker my career has grown and I now have a better understanding for needs of people with disabilities in the community.
Where is your favourite place to visit and/or thing to do in Bowen?
I like to take clients for walks along the front beach path.
How did you get your job at BFC?
I submitted my resume and have never looked back.
On a day-to-day basis, what are your role responsibilities and priorities?
My day to day role is different each day. Sometimes I take clients to appointments, shopping or activities with groups. I assist them with planning healthy meals, taking medications, everyday living and help them to achieve their goals.
Any big projects or goals you’re currently working on?
No big goals or projects but slow and steady supporting clients to learn everyday activities.
What’s an important lesson you’ve learnt while working at Bowen Flexi Care?
People with a disability can achieve anything they want to with the right guidance.
Any big personal wins at BFC?
I won employee of the month for July 2020.
Do you have a favourite motivational/positive quote or personal saying?
My personal quote is “ Don’t Dream it, Do it.”
How do you unwind from work or practice self-care?
I relax at home with my pets and listening to music.
